Connect with the leaders
shaping Africa's food future

Building a stronger
agri-food system

As an instrumental actor in transforming agriculture, agri-food industry organisations (AFIOs) unite, harmonise and advocate for the interests of their members, ranging from small-scale producers to processors and buyers. They boost the business environment, promote competitiveness, and ultimately improve the lives of small-scale producers across many sub-sectors.

Deepening the impact
of AFIO leaders

Given the pivotal role that AFIOs play, we're working to amplify their collective voice and stimulate investment to drive meaningful, large-scale impact for small-scale producers and the environment. Through business advisory, training, accelerator funding, peer-to-peer learning, and partnership facilitation, we support these leaders in growing their organisations and deepening their impact.

Churning new opportunities for Nigeria’s dairy sector

The Commercial Dairy Ranchers Association of Nigeria (CODARAN) is spearheading a transformation in Nigeria's dairy sector. As a pivotal force, the Association builds connections among key players in the dairy value chain. Their efforts include organising trade missions, advocating for beneficial policies, and providing mentoring and business advisory services. Additionally, they publish insightful reports that further inform and progress the industry. This groundwork paves the way for a thriving dairy sector.

Our countries

Ethiopia

Agriculture is a major part of Ethiopia’s economy, with exports generating 90 percent of its foreign currency. Production relies almost entirely on about 12 million small-scale producers (FAO). In Ethiopia, we are supporting AFIOs in value chains such as poultry, dairy and coffee to improve access to day-old chicks, milk collection and coffee traceability.

Nigeria

Agriculture contributes to about 25 percent of Nigeria’s gross domestic product (GDP) and provides income to nearly 100 million small-scale producers. In Nigeria, we are supporting AFIOs in value chains such as ginger, dairy, and palm oil, to improve access to machinery, milk collection and processing.

Tanzania

Agriculture is a critical part of Tanzania’s economy, contributing about 25 percent to its gross domestic product (GDP) and to the livelihoods of 65 percent of the population. In Tanzania we are supporting AFIOs in value chains such as horticulture, fish and cashews, to improve access to market prices, processing of fish as well as raw cashews.
